Twitter, Tweets & Phoenix Real Estate

in Miscellaneous,The Business of Real Estate

I have been a small fan of Twitter.  I first heard about it as a Realtor while at BlogWorld for the real estate trac there.  I follow just under 300 people and have just over 200 following me right now (that’s pretty cool that those people want to hear from me).  But I said a small fan of Twitter because like many, I was still trying to understand what it means to me.

Now, I know many Realtors basically ‘market’ themselves on Twitter.  I try not to do that.   I may call out a post I just wrote or something that I am doing at the moment that involves my being a Realtor.  But, I also enjoy interjecting just a snippet about me or something I may be thinking about.

In my business, I always hold the belief that ‘it is about my client, and not about me.’  On Twitter, the comments may be directly about what’s going on right now with someone, but it’s the honesty and straightforwardness that makes them more valuable in my opinion.  So, that’s why I like to interject more than just about what I do for a living.

Having said that, I just became a much bigger fan of Twitter this past Saturday.  I sat an open house and Tweeted…

“Sitting an open house at a terrible foreclosed property to meet new clients. I don’t understand why people wreak havoc on their homes. 10:30 AM Jan 24th from mobile web

Later that day, I met clients at my office to go look at homes.  I mentioned that I appreciated their flexibility in scheduling this time as I was doing an open house.  It’s then that they mentioned the house being ‘terrible.’  “I thought, how the heck did they know that?”

]Turns out that my clients are following me on Twitter!  In one second, we connected in a very different and comedic way.  I laughed.  It set the tone for the rest of the afternoon.  I thought it was the greatest thing – my client saw my Tweet from a few hours before.

Coming back to that post, I had Tweeted right after it,

“Ah, but I do enjoy the business. 10:31 AM Jan 24th from mobile web

Here’s my next Tweet as soon as I finish this post.

“Just posted about my first out-of-the-web Twitter experience – I am a much bigger fan of Twitter now, Moments into the Future from web. “

By the way, I’d love to have more followers – DavidLorti.  I’ll do the same!
