The Knob in a Chandler Home

I was with a client when we discovered ‘the knob’ in a Chandler home.  What is it and what does it do?  We wondered.  Why was it in a coat closet?

What does it control?  Could turning it trigger something to happen in the home or does it have a more insideous purpose.  Perhaps, it would trigger something in the “Orchid” on a remote island.  Perhaps, it would launch ballistic missiles across the world from Germany.  Perhaps, it would turn on the horn for the opening of Disneyland.

In the end, its purpose was more to do with shutting off the water to the laundry room on the other side of the wall.  Why the valve had been made accessible from the closet will remain a mystery.  At least, we don’t have to worry about it creating a butterfly effect anywhere.
