Continuing to build awareness for ways to address the need to consume less energy, I wanted to call out the different incentives that Salt River Project (SRP) provides for their customers when buying qualifying energy-efficient and low-water usage appliances. If you are looking for a new dishwasher or clothes washer, why not take advantage of the incentives here and do a little something toward reducing the impact to the environment at the same time.
From SRP’s Appliance Rebate site:
- Dishwashers that qualify must use at least 40% less electricity than the federal minimum standard for energy consumption.
- Clothes washers that qualify use 50% less energy and 35-50% less water than conventional models.
Clothes Washer Ratings and Definitions:
- The Modified Energy Factor (MEF) measures energy use for the complete laundry cycle, including drying. The higher the number, the greater the efficiency of the washer.
- The Water Factor (WF) represents the gallons of water needed for each cubic foot of laundry. The lower the number, the less water usage and greater efficiency of the washer.
Dishwasher Rating:
- The Energy Factor (EF) relates to the number of cycles per kilowatt-hour (kWh). The higher the number, the more efficient the dishwasher.

Overall, SRP has a series of rebates and incentives for homeowners to take a more proactive and thoughtful approach to their home improvement choices when it comes to energy or water efficiency. Given that we all need to buy a clothes washer or a dishwasher from time to time, it makes sense to take advantage of these incentives and do something positive for the environment at the same time.
