Here’s another vendor that I thought I would highlight from the Home & Garden show as I thought their products were very interesting.  As well, I liked the environmentally friendly aspect here with the use of natural light ‘tunneled’ in as well as the use of solar cells.

Solatube offers ‘daylighting’ systems for use in homes.  They do other products too but the Brighten Up series in an innovative way to draw in natural light to brighten areas of a home.  I have seen these used in homes and they really do brighten up a space.  And the best part is that the tube is flexible so that installation in a home is more flexible in terms of location.  Here’s the video.

Solatube’s other product that I found interesting is the Solar Star attic fan.  Once the fan is installed in your roof, the sun’s rays help to generate the fan through the solar arrays on top.  Hot air and moisture are then expelled through the fan.  Again, I especially like the environmentally friendly aspect of the fan here to help reduce electricity usage overall in the home and that the solution itself is solar powered.

Solatube’s products are appealing and I hope to see more use of them and similar products in the future given the growing emphasis on greener, smarter building and energy usage.  Check out Solatube on the web.
