One of the most impressive loft complexes in the East Valley is Tempe‘s Hayden Ferry Lakeside located at Tempe Town Lake in downtown. In fact, it is unlike any other across the Valley.

I have watched development of these structures for several years and recall the mockups of the overall complex before much was actually built. The photo here is of the second loft structure. The architecture is fashioned after the superstructure of an ocean freighter and reminds me of times being on the Gulf of Mexico and seeing some of these ships. The plan called for an additional structure like this one but that was cancelled with the market downturn.
If you look closely, you will see that every loft unit in the entire complex has some level of view over Tempe Town Lake and beyond. As well, ”A” mountain sits behind.
It’s an impressive development though loft prices have been high and problematic given the market. You can see what else is available below. One day I would love to have a loft here with the terrific view.
It’s All About Location When Buying a Loft
From a real estate perspective, many of the loft complexes across the Phoenix area have been risky for buyers. However, if you are interested in one and can afford the high price per square foot (it’s some of the most expensive Tempe real estate), then make the location count. Above all, the location for a loft complex is what can make all the difference between a successful project and a failure. For instance, Chandler’s Elevation Chandler high rise complex had a mediocre location at best (definitely not the most valuable Chandler real estate at this point).
The type of buyer that is looking for loft-style living is one who is active and likes to be connected to what’s going on around them. As such, the building and lofts have to be interwoven into the fabric and energy of each city which typically goes on in the more downtown areas. Shopping and other retail must be extensive. Activities must be abundant that offer anything from movies to art shows and major artistic performances back to bike lanes and walking paths for bicycling and walking. It’s not about what one can spend their money on around them and enjoy but moreso about where and how they can spend their time. And of course, this includes being able to take in the view.
Hayden Ferry Lakeside – What’s Available
Here’s what’s currently available. If you are looking for a high-rise loft and want to take a look at some of these or other properties, let me know.

David, you are so right. These views are amazing and the location is about as good as it gets here in the valley. I think a lot of people would agree with you in saying this project is way above average.
Very cool stuff!
